The Patriot Guard….. WOW…. They were, for a lack of better words, the icing on the cake. They made this whole funeral what is was meant to be…. A tribute to one of their Navy Brothers…. a Military sendoff that was due to our friend for his service. The respect our service members should all get.
This may sound strange for a review but we had a service for a dear friend yesterday, Sep 16 2015 and I thought from beginning to end was done very well and in great taste…. The Patriot Guard Riders were also there due to our friend being in the Navy as a young man. The staff was very, very nice! Ive been to some funeral homes where the staff is just "dark" and way too impersonal. Im sure every funeral is different as is how the person passed away. Our deceased friend was a funny old guy so most people had something to say that would make you laugh. That said, the staff had lightened up quickly and could laugh with us during some of it BUT was very professional when the time came to be just that. They didn't rush us out as if we were just a number. I appreciated the way they carried out the service. Thanks to all!!
As we drove to the Cemetery I was also impressed with the numerous oncoming vehicles who stopped to respect the funeral procession. Makes you feel good inside.
If I could rate Valhalla negative stars I would! My father designed a bench for his ashes a year prior to his death. When he passed, it wasn't done. We were estimated a time frame, when we called about it, they didnt know who we were. "They had to find our file"
Thank You again!
The combination of the great staff at the funeral home and the Patriot Guard Riders made this the perfect service for our dear friend.
Our family has used Valhalla for years but not this generation! After overpaying on our mom's, dad's and brother they still want $400.00 more to do the inscription on out parent's joint headstone. After our mother passed we paid her expenses and prepaid Dad's. They have a joint headstone. We thought we had paid for everything, at least that is what they led us to believe. a year after dad passed they want $400.00 to inscribe just the dates! plus his funeral was a total mess, wrong songs, wrong pictures etc, Would like to give them a - 10.
... when looking in the wall where ashes are (where they told us they'd put him until the bench was in) he or my mothers ashes were no where to be found!!! After they explain its all mistakes. They are taking care of it... when we call to follow up weeks later, once again no documentation of anything!!! My father had cancer, he heartly designed his bench, it meant ALOT to him, he paid and arranged his funeral so we didn't have the stress. Well my advice is dont ever pay for your funeral in full because you and your family will get brushed a side. Out of all the grieving and arranging after a loved one passes, drama with the funeral home is the LAST thing I expected! Shame on Valhalla.
Marker ordered March 23, not being laid until May 30Th! Will never recommend this Funeral home! No follow thru, unacceptable care for families grief!
